Daycare Guidelines

Our aim is for our daycare to be a highly sociable setting where all dogs attending the service have the opportunity to enjoy the company and companionship of their own friends. We aim to provide a day filled with many positive experiences, promoting physical and mental stimulation.

  • All new clients must attend a meet & greet with a member of staff. We will be able to answer any questions and take note of yours and your dog’s needs and requirements. We assess every new dog to ensure Pawfect Playdays is a suitable setting for them. We also observe their interaction with other dogs to make sure they are happy and comfortable to socialise.

All dogs on site must have completed the introduction and dog owners must keep staff up to date with any changes to help us provide the best level of care for each dog's needs. Staff will introduce any new dogs gently into the setting and give them the time they need to feel comfortable.

  • All dogs must be up to date with UK licenced vaccinations and parasite treatment.

Homeopathic treatment is not an acceptable alternative to UK licenced vaccinations and parasite treatment for the daycare environment. If a dog is not vaccinated, a letter will be required from their vet stating this is in the dog’s best interest and the owner must confirm in writing that they are still happy for the dog to attend the daycare at their own risk.

Unvaccinated dogs are kept to a minimum.

A copy of our infection control procedure is available on request.

  • All our staff and volunteers will do their utmost to make sure all dogs are kept safe and well cared for but accidents and injuries do happen. In this case, owners will be kept fully informed and if emergency treatment from a vet is required the responsible staff member will ensure this is carried out and the owner will be informed immediately.

Veterinary fees will need to be paid for by the owner.

  • Due to the high amount of dogs including entire dogs of a range of ages attending the daycare in season bitches are NOT able to attend daycare.

If a bitch comes into season while with us, she will be separated from any male dogs who have not been neutered immediately. The owner will be contacted and the bitch is to be collected as soon as possible.

  • We welcome entire (uncastrated) males into the daycare up until the age of 12 months. Once 12 months old, males must be castrated to be able to continue to attend.

In the event of inappropriate behaviour displayed, we reserve the right to request that male dogs attending the daycare be castrated prior to the 12 month to continue attending.

In this event, we will liaise with the owner regarding the problem to come to a satisfactory solution. If necessary, we may request the dog does not return to daycare until castrated.

  • Dogs are highly sociable creatures who have their own means of communication and understanding. All our staff have regular training and contact with a trainer to be able to recognise inappropriate behaviour.

If any member of staff observes, or is made aware of, a dog showing signs of stress, fear or aggressive body language or behaviour while under our care then we will take immediate steps to secure the safety of all dogs and staff.

We will then investigate further and contact owners to discuss what happened and possible reasons why.

Sometimes a change in behaviour can be an indication that a dog needs to see their vet to ensure good health and we are likely to recommend that the owner consider this. Depending on the severity of the behaviour, we may need to ask you to keep your dog at home until a vet can rule out any medical reasons behind it and, depending on the outcome, the daycare setting may not be suitable for the individual.

  • We are inspected and licensed through the South Oxfordshire District Council. We are very proud of our 5 star rating which is the highest we can achieve. Our licence number is 20723.

Our duty is to ensure a safe environment for all the dogs and staff at Pawfect Playdays and for all to have fun filled days with many positive experiences to learn and grow!
